Transportation Engineering

RockSol has participated in the engineering and design of roads, highways, bridges, and transit infrastructure for several notable transportation projects.

Our Experience
  • Project management and full engineering design services for widening York Street, 78th to 88th Avenue in Adams County, including roadway design, geotechnical engineering, bridge design, and environmental permitting

  • Roadway design services for 37th Street for the City of Evans as part of a multiphase project to increase capacity along the 37th Street and 47th Avenue corridors

  • Trail design for the City of Thornton 2017 Trail Connections project and bikeway design for the US 36 Bikeway for the City and County of Broomfield

  • Intersection design work for the City of Thornton, City of Arvada, City of Aurora, City and County of Broomfield, and Adams County

  • Structural and engineering design, public outreach, and interproject coordination as part of the design teams for the I-25 North Express Lanes projects, including  I-25 between 120th to SH 66, I-25 between SH 66 to SH 56, and I-25 between SH 392 and SH 14

  • Design and construction support for RTD’s FasTracks corridors and multimodal transportation hub, Denver Union Station, which introduced new transit technologies to the region

  • Advisory support for Colorado’s first roadway bridge replacement using accelerated bridge construction (ABC) utilizing Self-Propelled Modular Transporters (SPMT)

Transportation Design

RockSol’s engineers bring experience in the management of numerous environmental assessments and impact studies; preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for final design; and participation in post design and value engineering studies. RockSol’s team members have experience in cradle-to-grave project delivery from the preliminary design of projects – starting with the initial scoping, budgeting, and planning – to interdisciplinary and stakeholder coordination necessary to finalize project designs and PS&E, and finally through the construction and maintenance of the transportation improvement asset. RockSol’s transportation engineering experience includes roadway design, incorporating horizontal and vertical geometry, pavement, earthwork, drainage ditches, and cross-culverts.

Value Engineering

RockSol has participated in value engineering (VE) studies to assist in cost savings analysis and to improve the value, performance, and quality of a project. Our team offers experienced engineers to provide VE recommendations, who are familiar with the AASHTO Guidelines for Value Engineering. We have proven abilities in the value engineering process, including analyzing design functions, cost, value performance, and quality; identifying alternatives; evaluating life cycle cost alternatives; and developing value engineering recommendations.

Stakeholder Coordination

RockSol engineers understand the importance of working with stakeholders to develop mutually beneficial and context sensitive design solutions. Our project managers have extensive experience coordinating with project owners and stakeholders and working with the design teams to ensure their unique project needs are incorporated into project designs. Our experience includes assisting the design teams with project coordination and conducting outreach with numerous agencies while providing public involvement and stakeholder coordination support, as well as coordination among the adjacent design projects to align goals and initiatives.
