Construction Management

RockSol provides high quality construction engineering services – including constructability reviews, contract administration, schedule review and analysis, construction management, inspection services, and on-site materials testing – to ensure compliance with design specifications and contract terms.

Our seasoned personnel provide construction expertise and insight during the design phase of a project, and then move to the field conducting project administration, construction observation, and quality assurance testing to complete the construction. We are adept at working in blended teams with both our clients and other consultants to seamlessly complete high-quality, long-lasting projects.

RockSol is dedicated to maintaining industry certifications and in-house training for all technical and professional staff members. To ensure quality on all projects, our staff are experienced and have access to all the technical support necessary to complete work within the specifications and requirements for any contract. RockSol has been commended for quality outcomes on projects for

state, federal, municipal, and county agencies; several of our projects have been recognized with industry awards such as the Colorado Contractor Association Project Management Award. Our portfolio includes the completion of a range of assignments, such as interstate, highway, street and transit construction projects, as well as recreational trail, city parks, and infrastructure improvement projects.


Post-Design Support & Constructability Review

The RockSol team has the expertise to provide the full gamut of post-design support services, from design clarification to technical assistance during construction. We are extremely experienced in reviewing contractor submittals, and have extensive experience providing constructability reviews, assisting in the development of scopes of work and bid packages, and reviewing value engineering proposals. RockSol’s constructability reviews have resulted in the correction of plans and/or specifications, saving our clients millions of dollars and vast amounts of time.

Project Administration

We leverage our vast experience in project administration and contract compliance to manage projects on behalf of our clients. RockSol’s staff provide comprehensive administration services, from initial project showings through daily administration by proactively managing project quality, schedule, and budget. We have expertise in project controls, stakeholder coordination, and public involvement; utility coordination and relocation; and close collaboration on critical issues for their timely and successful mitigation. Our personnel offer the expertise to act as the owner’s representative in administering the project to ensure each requirement is completed by the contractor in accordance with all contract specifications. Our project experience ranges in complexity, environmental sensitivity, and project delivery methods. It includes interstate highway construction, major arterials, rural roadways, city streets, forest roads, structures, transit, buildings, and underground excavations.

Schedule Analysis

RockSol employs talented schedule analysts, and our project managers are trained in CPM scheduling and have strong abilities in reviewing baseline schedules, analyzing CPM schedules, reviewing method statements, and evaluating logic changes and contract compliance. We provide critical path baseline schedule review with in-depth analysis of critical path components and monthly review of contractors’ updated schedules. Our team evaluates monthly CPM updates closely for accurate reporting of programs, evaluation of logic changes, and overall compliance with contract requirements. 

Construction Management & Inspection

RockSol’s construction management and inspection staff specialize in the area of contract administration, construction management, and inspection. They hold certifications in stormwater management, erosion control, inspection of concrete and asphalt pavement, traffic control, and CDOT’s inspector courses, among others. The majority of our construction management and inspection personnel have between 20 and 30 years of experience on transportation projects ranging from local and secondary streets to state and interstate highways. We offer specialists in erosion control, traffic control, utilities coordination, concrete and asphalt paving, bridge construction, and safety critical work, among several other areas. Our personnel are knowledgeable in ensuring compliance of construction activities and finished product with contract requirements, special project provisions and project plans and specifications. 

Materials Testing

RockSol offers a wide range of materials testing capabilities for the construction needs of any projects. These capabilities range from soil and aggregate tests to the most complex tests needed for the job. RockSol’s materials testing services are performed to assure that the materials and workmanship conform to plans and specifications. RockSol’s 60+ materials testing technicians are cross-trained in field and laboratory materials testing and have successfully completed assignments on numerous CDOT and local agency construction projects. RockSol’s testing personnel always maintain current LabCAT, ACI, and WAQTC certifications and have been trained and are experienced in performing testing and documentation in accordance with the ASTM and AASHTO procedures and other agency specifications. Our technicians are familiar with the importance of the adherence to Quality Assurance/Quality Control programs and the accurate, timely documentation of all test results and related activity. Additionally, RockSol’s full service AMRL and CCRL (ASTM & AASHTO) accredited laboratory is capable of performing a broad range of soils and geotechnical testing, as well as a wide variety of concrete and asphalt laboratory testing.

Documentation Expertise

RockSol offers expertise in the documentation required for a variety of projects, including projects funded fully or partially by federal dollars. We have a proven understanding of the CDOT Local Agency requirements and documentation, including CDOT specifications and standards and their latest editions of the design, construction, and field materials manuals. To ensure complete, thorough documentation inclusive of required supporting documentation, we call upon our decade of state and federal project experience. RockSol provides expertise for the completion of federally-funded projects and materials documentation and review of project documentation on behalf of the state department of transportation. We have retired DOT finals engineers on staff to provide quality reviews, ensuring our final documentation not only meets our client’s expectations, but meets our own elevated quality demands as well.
